Austin City Limits, the festival, was originally inspired by Austin CIty Limits, the TV show on PBS. It is a festival that caters to fans of a diverse range of genres and styles, mixing some well-established acts with other lesser known ones. It takes place over two consecutive weekends in October, Friday through Sunday. It is located in Zilker Park, which is close to downtown Austin, south of the river. It is produced by the same group that also produces Lollapalooza. The festival has also spun off Auckland City Limits in Auckland, New Zealand, and Sydney CIty Limits in Sydney, Australia as well
