Hermanos Gutiérrez is the guitar playing Ecuadorian-Swiss brothers Alejandro and Estevan Gutiérrez, who work primarily as a duo and as an instrumental band. Their music is inspired by the rich and textured sounds of the Central American folk and cumbia rhythms as well as the twang of Ennio Morricone style dark western. It is evocative of the dusty deserts of the southwestern US and northern Mexico, or the hot and lush beaches of Central America. It has a melancholic edge. The brothers have a non-nonsense, workman like approach to their instruments that focuses on the overall sound and the musical narrative they build through their intricate interaction. It is hard not to get he impression that they are telling stories through their pieces without uttering a single word.
