The Lathums

The Lathums are an indie pop band with an upbeat style, a stream of catchy tunes and a broadly optimistic tone. The band wears their Smiths influences proudly on their sleeves, especially in the arpeggio driven Johnny Marr like jumpy jangle on the guitar. Vocalist Alex Moore does his best to stay outside of Morrissey's circle of morose misery, and adopts a much lighter heart. The songs tend to be uplifting, fairly melodic in nature, and filled with hooks. They stream along in a carefree flow, and even pull in some ska motifs every now and then. They are a band that out there spreading plenty of good vibes.
