Geese
Outline
Geese is an indie rock band from Brooklyn that sits comfortably at the intersection of no wave and post-punk as they push for a kind of music that can be said to be made of the same type of fabric as bands like black midi, Squid, and Shame, but one that opts for prog-inspired narrative arcs rather than abrasiveness and angular artsiness. They still have a jangly side, but it is well-contained in the same way their instrumental shifts and turns are: they provide an additional layer to their music without actually defining it. At their collective heart, Geese seems to have a more conventional approach to music and to be less iconoclastic. Their strength seems to be in the medium scope: not all out expansive soundscapes, nor strictly the beat and the melody. They are usually somewhere in between.
