Flipturn is an indie band whose music usually has a mellow, easy going feel and clearly articulated melodies as the songs keep rolling smoothly. Their sound combines a less electronic version of Goth Babe and Ritt Momney with the lighter side of Local Natives and Lord Huron. Their music generally proceeds patiently at a relaxed pace, with arpeggiated guitars leading the way and bassist Madeline Jarman providing the steady pulse that drives the band, who in turn, plays fairly tight as an ensemble. Vocalist Dillon Basse sings with a gentle voice with shades of Jeff Buckley that also carries harsh edges that surface when he shifts up to a higher gear. Their catalog contains plenty of quality pop gems with great melodies wrapped effectively into a solid presentation.
