Solar Eyes

Led by singer-songwriter, guitarist, and producer Glenn Smyth, Solar Eyes are a band that plays indie rock from a psychedelic angle, which was especially prominent when they first started. The woozy feel that was up front on their initial EP has receded somewhat since then in favor of their more recent, alt-rock inspired approach. That said, the band continues to employ retro grooviness, space effects, a light fuzz, and hazy vocals. Smyth clearly has affection for Morricone style iconic western guitar sound with all its tremolo-ridden, reverb glory and makes use of it with some regularity. There are also a strong hint of jamming dynamics to their music that may be reminiscent of the work of The Black Angels and Tame Impala, among others.
