Pond

Pond emerged from Perth's lively psychedelic scene in 2008 as an offshoot of Tame Impala, formed by two of their members, guitarist Nick Allbrook and multi-instrumentalist Jay Watson. Their music is firmly grounded in psychedelia, but they have stylistically grown in recent years to expand into '80s synth pop and pop rock as well as '70s glam. Their work preceding 2015's Man It Feels Like Space Again had a more pronounced flair for trippy and floaty sound, following a more free-flowing style, which they gradually moved away from in favor of a more structured style. The sense of scrappiness in their instrumentation and delivery has a standard garage rock feel, which is the final piece that defines this psychedelic synth pop/garage glam hybrid band's music. Long story short, there are enough bits in this band's catalog that would please fans of a diverse range of genres.
