THING music and arts festival is a relative newcomer to the festival circuit having begun in 2019 before a 2-year pandemic pause. It returned in 2022 and continues to have an impressive and eclectic lineup, even if only considering the musical acts. Up until this year, THING was held at former military base Fort Worden in the town of Port Townsend, but has now moved to Remlinger Farms, an amusement center in Carnation about 25 miles East of Seattle. It is organized by the Seattle Theater Group and former Sasquatch! Music Festival organizer Adam Zacks. It distinguishes itself from other music festivals with its inclusion of many other art forms such as dance, poetry, storytelling, comedy and podcasting. Both music and non-music lineups feature some local Seattle flavor, but the musical acts in particular don't stop there. Among them are many currently in-demand acts from around the world in a variety of genres.
