Arlo Parks (aka Anaïs Marinho) is an indie pop artist and a poet with a mellow style whose songs leave an imprint in the listener's mind emotionally as well as melodically. She was originally based in London with a musical style that fits right in with the city's contemporary scene of R&B inspired pop. Her songs tend to be mid-tempo, laid back, delivered with her sweet and relaxed voice that might sometimes come across as somewhere between Nilüfer Yanya and the calmer version of Lily Allen. Her arrangements are pared down and to the point, often with strong rhythmic elements built around light syncopation. There is a sense of overall lightness in her music even when she sings about heavy matters.
