Ratboys

Ratboys are an indie rock band led by guitarist, singer Julia Steiner and guitarist David Sagan. They started in the mid '10s as a folk and alt country tinged indie rock band, then gradually moved towards indie pop. They also transitioned from being a duo to a full four-piece band during this period. Their music often has an uptempo melodic flow, with occasionally anthemic choruses. Like other bands that succeed in this basic set up, they put together compelling songs with clarity in presentation. Steiner is the primary songwriter for the band, and she also writes reflective lyrics that match her naturally tender voice. Their 2022 release Happy Birthday, Ratboy is their reworking of their self-titled 2011 debut EP with some older tracks added.
