Lowlands, or A Campingflight To Lowlands Paradise, as it is more formally known, is a 3-day music and arts festival that takes place at the event grounds adjacent to Walibi Holland, an amusement park near Biddinghuizen in the Netherlands, about 68 km east of Amsterdam. It has a long history, having debuted in more or less its current format in 1993. That debut was itself a revival of a festival called A Flight To Lowlands Paradise that took place in 1967 and 1968. It is very popular, regularly selling out in advance, which means 65,000 attendees in recent years. Musical acts tend to be internationally known and represent most popular genres. In addition to music, programming includes theater, dance, comedy, film and literature. As the name suggests, camping is a big part of the festival and the majority of attendees camp on site.
