Capitol Hill Block Party is a 3-day music festival that takes place in July in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Seattle. It started out small in 1997 as a single-day, single-stage affair with free admission. It has grown significantly since then, both in scope (11 stages, over 20,000 attendees) and price, perhaps to the chagrin of businesses located within its current 6 square blocks. Its area is bounded by Broadway to the West, E Pine St to the North, 12th Ave to the East and E Union St to the South. Performers run the gamut of popular genres, including indie rock/pop, EDM, punk, R&B and hip-hop and there is a generous dose of local talent, which isn't in short supply.
