Oruã
Outline
Oruã is a band that plays in a gently psychedelic style that turns primarily on a vintage rock feel that tends to be relatively mellow, drawing some inspiration from jazz and with occasional Latin beats that make their presence felt in subtle ways. They are a four-piece group based in Rio and led by guitarist Lê Almeida, who is quite a force of nature on his instrument as he creates bluesy riffs and fuzzy leads that sound both brilliant and inventive. His playing has a hypnotic effect that is only bolstered by the band's smooth and fluid presentation. They have been stylistically consistent since their 2017 debut album, Sem Bênção / Sem Crença, walking roughly the same path all this time, and yet hearing them play, one feels like there is still much to explore in the space they occupy.
Lê Almeida's solo work, Bike, Allah-Las, Ulrika Spacek. Levitation Room, Elephant Stone
They have toured with Built to Spill in the past. Lê Almeida and João Casaes played on their 2022 album When the Wind Forgets Your Name.
