Based in East Los Angeles, Levitation Room is a band that absolutely loves the '60s trippy garage sound and probably a bunch of other things about music from that period. They use vintage instrumentation to emulate that old, mid to late '60s vintage sound whether it is that fuzzy, swirly guitar, the classic organ sound, the Rhodes piano, big fat toms, they are all there. Vocalist and one of the principals, Julian Porte channels the voice quality and singing style as well. Their debut album, 2016's Echoes has the mid '60s kaleidoscopic "Blue Jay Way" psychedelia dialed down, while their second album 2019's Headspace skips a couple of years and captures the end of the decade, with a touch of The Doors. Their music could be considered an acid flashback to a brand of music that has been one of the building blocks of today's rock.
