Sleigh Bells

Sleigh Bells are the duo Alexis Krauss (vocals) and Derek Miller (guitar, production) who serve up a mixture of noise and pop wrapped around dance-friendly beats. Their music pulls on multiple threads including metal, industrial, and electronic, as well as sugary dance pop that uses synth pop as its base. Miller is very good at not only creating forms of distortion that works well in the pop context, but also for knowing how far to push the knobs and when to pull back. Krauss, on the other hand, creates the whole pop impetus in their music, and simply thrives in that role as she brings all the candy colored sugar rush that gives this bipolar band its sweet side. The result is a continual, relentless tension between big time pop and loud bursts of noise.
