Hotel Lux

Hotel Lux is a post-punk band based in South London, specifically in the same region that has been giving us some of the leading acts in the ongoing post-punk revival wave, such as Shame and Goat Girl. Their music follows the basic blueprint of the genre but only to some extent: the vocals are in the speak-sing style, for instance, and some of their songs are driven by the repetitive patterns set by the rhythm section. However, they also tend to be less punchy and atmospheric in their grooves and more old school melodic and with some sway. There are even some places where they seem to be bringing in traces of blues driven riffs (see Envoi). The lyrics can go to some dark places, but do so with some twisted humor.
