Do Nothing is a post-punk band from Nottingham whose music leans more towards the bouncy and upbeat side without necessarily heading all into the cheerful, party-time territory. Kasper Sandstrøm brings an angular and jangly guitar that spices things up with nicely placed dissonance that they keep a little hushed in the mix. The bass adds a nice funky new wave style pulse, which is backed by the lively beats on the drums. Singer Chris Bailey has been moving from the early speak singing style towards a more loose, almost loungy vocal delivery, that is more James Murphy (of LCD Soundsystem) than, say, a younger and kinder Mark E. Smith, Their music tends to be melodically strong and bold, and the band uses them as the context to step up some of their understated sonic experimentation with some regularity.
