Home Counties is a post-punk band originally from Bristol, England, whose music has the kind of jumpy, bouncy, ball-of-fun tones that should be familiar from bands like B-52s and Gustaf. Their music combines that energy with a highly angular and jagged sound, turning up the jangle on the guitars fairly high, pushing the funk on the bass and the drums. Then they add some dissonance and occasionally stuttery beats that breaks the mold a little. Vocalist Will Harrison adopts a speak-sing style that has become one of the major feature of the current batch of post-punk bands. It is hard not to see similarities with Yard Act's James Smith with respect to the brashness of his stance, his sardonic tone, and the particular brand of political humor that is embedded in his lyrics.
