Home Counties are a band that started its career with a zigzag between their initial set of EPs that were pretty much in the jumpy, bouncy, ball-of-fun zone along the lines of Gustaf or Bodega, then took an abrupt change in direction on their debut album Exactly As It Seems in 2024 diving head-first into the wonderful world of dance pop with funky grooves. With the addition of keyboard player and vocalist Lois Kelly, they seem to have found their inner LCD Soundsystem, which has been missing from the picture until then for some reason. Their original sound is not completely gone of course, and it makes its presence felt every now and then (see "Posthumous Spreadsheet") to add their jittery, jangly energy to the proceedings. That said, the core of their music is currently centered comfortably around the dance floor that they seem to quite content to be inhabiting.
