Gustaf

Gustaf is a post-punk band from Brooklyn with an upbeat, party style music that is reminiscent of the early Talking Heads and similar bands of the late '70s. They are an energetic band with a strong sense of fun that builds their sound around the funky bass grooves and strong drum beats. The guitars can be fairly angular without taking the spotlight much. At the heart of the presentation is the singer Lydia Gammill, who delivers her lines sometimes in shouty bursts or with a touch of speak-sing as she maintains a free flowing wild party vibe. The band also participates in the overall tone of the music in the way handle the call and response vocals in the class crowd shouting chorus set up (also see Bodega).
