Outline
Shopping is a trio originally from London that makes upbeat, dance-friendly new wave style music that is reminiscent of bands like ESG, Delta 5, and to some extent, B52s. The band was able to lock in on their sound more or less from day one with their first album, Consumer Complaints (2015), which remarkably had all the pieces in place: the funky bass, the four on the floor drums, the jangly guitars, and even some of the vocal quirks that all had echoes of Gang of Four from decades back. Their use of surf guitars is something that stands out in that regard. This basic format of their music has not changed over the years, but they have gotten more confident as musicians and their execution has grown tighter and sharper.
