Public Body

Public Body is a Brighton based band that plays energetic, uptempo post-punk that is propulsive, angular, and perhaps a bit twitchy at times. There is also a fair amount of noise factor in their music, which especially comes to the front on their 2025 album Finger Food, along with synth-oriented dance moves that were not there before. Their earlier work had more of a throwback quality to it, and their songs were driven by the bright, open ring of the guitars with glimpses of minor dissonance. The rhythm section is pretty locked in and provides a steady throb. Vocalist Seb Gilmore adopts a speak-singing style, where he regularly airs out his pet peeves, a good chunk of which appears to be daily annoyances around work and office life.
