Bodega

Bodega is a Brooklyn-based band with quirky post-punk tendencies whose music seems to have distilled some of the most prominent features of the early '80s post-punk/new wave era. They are also driven by a healthy dose of irreverent and irrepressible sense of fun. The vocals are mostly in the speak-sing style shared between vocalists Nikki Belfiglio and Ben Hozie, sometimes reminiscent of the B-52s. There is a strong dance floor flavor to their music. Their arrangements are crisp and well-defined: the guitars jangle somewhere between Gang of Four and Talking Heads, the bass and drums provide a steady funk. Their lyrics are snippy and sarcastic, delivered with a wink and the songs are filled with catchy and instantly accessible melodies. The band shifted gears and dove right into the world of punk on their 2025 album Rot in Helvetica, which they release under the name of Nodega.
