Divorce

Nottingham based Divorce embraces a sound that settles mostly in the vicinity of alt-country and indie folk, along a well traveled path leading to some mid-tempo, low-tension indie rock. They are pretty loose and fluid stylistically within that range. The vocal pairing between bassist Tiger Cohen-Towell and guitarist Felix Mackenzie-Barrow has been a key factor in their work thus far. The pair not only handles harmonies and swaps leads across songs, they also bring what is essentially a call-and-response dynamic that does some of the heavy lifting in their songs. The band also stands out with the strength of their songwriting, which is both melodically well-grounded and lyrically honest and confident, providing quite a bit for music fans to take note.
