Hamish Hawk

Hamish Hawk is an Edinburgh based artist who works mostly in the indie pop/indie rock axis with his mature songwriting and a deep, compelling voice. His music has shifted stylistically a couple of times since he started in the late '10s and currently operates in the orbital proximity of  The National with his brooding tone, combined with his usual Leondard Cohen type lyrical focus and wit. The path that led there went through the lands of more straightforward indie rock at some point, and high-end pop at another, referencing a good collection of influences along the way. It is easy to catch glimpses of King Creosote, Pulp, The Smiths, and Talking Head weaving in and out of his music briefly, leaving behind a trail that is still distinctly Hawk-ish. Likewise, fans of Morrissey may find some familiar mannerisms in his vocals.
