Although affiliated with the same record label that has been a major player in the post-punk market in the past few years, Honeyglaze comes with a more indie rock type sound. It is led by vocalist and guitarist Anouska Sokolow, who happens to be a terrific songwriter with the ability to put together songs that feel like they could have been created in any era and performed in any number of different styles. The band is clearly in on this idea and plays them without complicating things, which allows the songs to do the main work and not let genre considerations introduce any additional layer. Sokolow herself has a very clear and straightforward delivery. That said, there are places in their self-titled 2022 debut album (see "Childish Things"), that suggests a deep well and a potentially expansive sound they may develop down the road.
