Porridge Radio is an indie rock band with a vague post-punk touch led by singer, songwriter, guitarist Dana Margolin, who writes emotional songs with a darker spirit that stands somewhere between angst and desperation. She is clearly a talented songwriter, both compositionally and lyrically, and she has a knack for the big and dramatic gestures that the band spells out as a big and brash sound, adding more swagger to it. Her vocals bear a lot of weight, and when she hits her peak, her songs turn into a battlefield of emotions. Her deeply pained wail and occasional spasmic delivery that is sometimes reminiscent of Amanda Palmer (in her Dresden Dolls days) back when she was mainlining the same staccato anxiety that Porridge Radio has now tapped into and probably will not let go for a while.
