Crack Cloud

Crack Cloud is a Vancouver based band/art collective with a fluid line up led by drummer and singer Zach Choy. Their music pulls from multiple threads including choppy art rock with post-punk flair and a bit of Roxy Music's sax driven early glam, though without the suave. If anything, they have the loose and shaggy feel similar to Fat White Family. There is also a layer of theatricality to their work, whether it is in the quiet passages played on a solo piano in a distance or the thumping, stomping beats that feel like a group of dancers pounding the floor. They had a punchy, staccato edge in their earlier albums, and the kind of jagged guitars and vocal bursts that are worthy of Wire. All these elements add up to rich and adventurous music that continues to fascinate.
