Drahla combines jumpy, jittery post-punk with unsettled (and unsettling) art rock, which leads to some angsty music that is pretty much the opposite of laid back. They do this with strong melodies, jagged as they may be, that come with potential but seriously downplayed pop bits. Guitarist Lucial Brown provides sharp lines and a fuzzed up attack between the ringing tones, while bassist Rob Rigg and drummer Mike Ainsley turn on the propulsion. The artsy layer they place on top of their post-punk is relatively thick but it is also pretty juicy. Brown's vocals have a cool and detached texture and it is mixed relatively low, barely above the other instruments, which further boosts the low end of their sound. They occasionally bring saxophonist Chris Duffin (see Virginia Wing) as a guest, whose contribution adds a nice punch to their music.
