Bethlehem Steel

Bethlehem Steel is an indie rock band from Brooklyn (their name is a nod to the band's upstate New York roots). Their music is deeply steeped in the garage and lo-fi mindset, though with cleaner riffs and with the level of fuzz turned a notch down. They regularly vary the dynamics of their songs, typically playing an attack oriented rock style, while keeping the vocals more measured and calm, which creates a stylistic tension that singer/songwriter Rebecca Ryskalczyk leverages nicely when she lets go. The band was a strong ensemble through their 2019 line-up, with the addition of Christina Puerto as the second singer/guitarist giving more richness and depth to their sound. With departures from the band in the post-pandemic era, Ryskalczyk turned to other projects and released a solo album in 2023, Say it Back.
