Water From Your Eyes
Outline
Water From Your Eyes (or WFYE) is a duo from Brooklyn that makes electronic music with indie rock at the edges, along the lines of LCD Soundsystem. The band started to expand their horizon around 2019, where they began to explore folk-tinged dance-agnostic acoustic pieces, ballads, full on electronic abstract music (see their curious and slightly baffling EP 33:44). They then landed on an eclectic body of work in Structure, which covered the span from romantic and melodic songs to cold, hard techno-industrial piece and from warm electronics to spoken word snippets. The beats they have been using in their dance-oriented music has always had a degree of variability to it and never became monotonous throughout the band's life. Very clearly, they operate through songs, paying attention to their melodic hooks as well as the beats they construct, which is perhaps why their dance music tends to have a fairly organic feel.
