Wallows are a Los Angeles based indie pop trio that makes sparkly upbeat songs with a touch of pop punk here and there. All three members take on the lead singing role at different times, and weave nice layers of vocals when they are all in at the same time. There are strong '00s pop influences in their music, as well as more playful strands of contemporary pop. Their songs are melodically strong and effective, but that is not the only thing they rely on. They have consistently warm and inviting production in their recordings and continue to seek variety in their arrangements and make interesting choices in instrumentation, including synth-pop inspired passages, quietly wailing guitars, and so on.
