Flat Sun Society

Flat Sun Society is a Santa Cruz/Big Sur based band led by guitarist, singer-songwriter Jake Padorr, who takes its inspiration from the classic era psychedelic rock in terms of instrumentation and overall sound, keeping it mostly mid-tempo, introspective, and contemplative. They also pull elements from eastern music and krautrock to some extent, but the defining characteristic of their work is their propensity for jamming, especially in their live performances that keeps the door open for extended instrumental solos. There is also a strong percussive quality to their music, with multiple drummers adding intricate rhythmic layers. They are active mostly in the coastal strip in California
