Two-Man Giant Squid

    Outline

Two-Man Giant Squid started out as a personal project for multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Mitchell Vinokur, which then evolved into a stylistically fluid band that pulls from a couple of distinct threads to form a consistent feel that does not vary that much during those shifts. They have one foot in the dance-adjacent section of post-punk, and another in the unpolished, rough-around-the-edges underground sound that has been coming out of Brooklyn since probably forever, and they deftly balance between the two. There is a well-executed melodic core to their music, with a handful of LCD Soundsystem in it, some Bodega, and a pinch of Dead Tooth type edge. That said, their work comes across as fairly put together and far from scruffy.

LCD Soundsystem, Bodega, Mary Shelley, Dead Tooth, Vundabar, Gloin
