Guantanamo Baywatch
Outline
Guantanamo Baywatch is a band that was active in the '10s, but has gone dormant since then, except for occasional live performances and tours. They were originally from the Portland area. Two of the members later moved to other cities across the western US, and their recording activities came to a stop after 2017's Desert Center. They were known especially for their high energy surf rock in the Dick Dale mold, along with his signature guitar twang. Their songs are often instrumental, pulling a great deal from classic '50s rock'n roll, garage rock, and old school country, especially in their early albums. They are known as a captivating group that taps into a style that today's fans still respond to even though it has not been in the mainstream of pop music for generations now.
