Trees Speak

Trees Speak is the Tuscon, Arizona based duo of Daniel Martin Diaz and Damian Diaz, who create music that embraces the classic krautrock sound of seminal bands like Can, Neu!, and Faust, as well as the hypnotic electronic textures of another classic German band, Tangerine Dream. That said, a fair amount of their work is much harder to categorize as they have parts that suggest jazz, ambient, and even prog at times, without getting boxed into any. Their music moves in a soundtrack like fashion: It is instrumental, orderly and restrained, and It is built on thematic repetition, with melodic relishes and emphatic elements snaking through the loops. It moves along in a structured way, staying away from dramatic peaks and valleys, which one experiences in the flow of an album where each track feels like a movement in a larger musical piece.
