Bitchin Bajas

Bitchin Bajas is a trio of multi-instrumentalists who create synth-based ambient music that combines elements of electronic music with a more conventional, drone-oriented sound. It started out as the side project of Cooper Crain (of Chicago-based krautrock band Cave), and grew into a trio over time. Their music is often bright and moody at the same time, highly contemplative and introverted. They do, however, like to break out of that mold on a regular basis, mostly in terms of their collaborative work with other artists, including acts like Natural Information Society and Bonnie "Prince" Billy. They are often minimalist in their presentation, building around repetitive patterns, and they take their time in fully developing their musical ideas in the course of their pieces. Their 2021 album Switched on Ra contains their adaptation of eight Sun Ra pieces.
