Tim Hecker

Tim Hecker is a producer and electronic artist who takes ambient music as his base, but also tends to inject experimental elements into his work. His specialty is to create soundscapes that are shrouded in darker shades, evoking not just something mysterious and mystical, but also tapping into a sense of foreboding that induces a level of tension with his compositions. Although drones and repeated phrases are essential to ambient music as a whole, Hecker has a way of moving the narrative along in small increments over time, which adds a dynamic component to his music. He uses electronic instruments and found sounds as his building blocks to that end. His 2006 album Harmony in Ultraviolet is considered one of the great records in the world of ambient music.
