These New Puritans

The core of These New Puritans (commonly, TNP) is the Barnett twins, Jack and George, who work with a handful of musicians who have been going in and out of the line-up since the late '00s. Their current style blends elements of post-rock and post-classical into chamber type forms. There is often a contemplative tone to their songs that benefits from vocalist Jack Barnett's deep voice and somewhat introspective delivery. Overall, their music sounds organic and settled in, even when they're busy busting out big drums or setting up tension. Their earlier work (until 2013's Field of Reeds), by contrast, pulled a great deal from The Fall type post-punk threads as well, combining rhythmic structures with repetitive riffs that sometimes clash with the beat.
