Snowpoet

Snowpoet is a band led by the duo of vocalist Lauren Kinsella and multi-instrumentalist Chris Hyson, who have been blending elements from a variety of styles that reside more or less under a broad jazz umbrella, to create a relaxed and expansive type of music that also incorporates some of their poetry. There are also noticeable contemporary classical music influences in their work, as well as electronic music, particularly the type of sound that Björk taps into on her more serene days. There is also a stream of old school folk in the mix, especially bringing the jazzy period Joni Mitchell to mind. Their music has a strong contemplative component that makes it easy to get carried away and get lost in thoughts with its quiet vibes and overall elegance.
