Constant Follower plays an expansive form of folk led by singer-songwriter Stephen McAll's acoustic guitar work and his gentle vocals. Their instrumentation creates a fairly sparse soundscape that makes its quiet spaces felt by the audience. Synth player Amy Campbell's subtle backing vocals also add to the atmospheric texture of their music. The result is a very delicate, almost fragile sound that elevates the profoundly intimate and wistful nature of the songs. There is a sense of yearning that can be detected in MacAll's delivery that often relates to the sense of loss he has experienced due to the loss of his childhood memories after a head trauma he received in his youth.
