Surprise Chef

Surprise Chef is an instrumental band out of Melbourne whose music is centered around funk and soul oriented chill grooves. There are a few other genres and styles that also find their way into their music, whether in the form of a trickle or flowing more like a gentle creek. One can hear some jazzy bits here and there, as well as a desert western esthetic that slips right in. As it often happens with bands that go in this particular direction, their sound has a cinematic quality, evoking a sense of broad landscapes at times and conjuring vague mental images of movie scene fragments we all carry with us. The songs are in the mid-tempo range typically, and the grooves are more on the relaxed and somewhat understated side.
