Lava La Rue

Lava La Rue (aka Ava Laurel) is a contemporary pop and rock artist with roots extending into R&B and a relatively trippy brand of hip-hop. There are some psychedelic strands that go through their music, which was especially up front in the woozy, laid-back sound with lazy beats that their earlier EPs were built on. They moved towards deeper grooves and a funkier feel later, bringing tighter beats and a rock-oriented edge on display on their debut album, 2024's Starface. R&B influences continue to stay close to the surface, which makes for a neatly eclectic approach that is Prince-like to an extent, at least in terms of their stylistic direction.
