Tierra Whack

Tierra Whack is a Philadelphia based hip-hop artist whose work methodically explores boundaries and intersections between genres. Her debut album, 2018's Whack World was a series of one minute songs that kept shifting styles, each one making its basic point and then moving on to the next one.  She followed that up with three EPs in 2021 aptly named Rap?, Pop?, and R&B?, each with three songs that explore the genres mentioned in their respective titles. Her work builds on sparse instrumentation and with some desktop production vibes. The conceptual and experimental nature of her work never quite gets in the way of her ability to create deeply enjoyable pieces of music, which she is a feat she is able to pull off mostly by the strength of her songwriting. She is quite a creative and versatile artist who also frequently displays a level of absurdist humor.
