Shortparis

Shortparis is a Saint Petersburg, Russia based experimental band that mixes post-punk, industrial, and electronic music to create an idiosyncratic sound. Their music is rock-centric in many ways, but it also has a big, theatrical side. They generally work with an electronic base combined with artsy noise, primal percussion, and dance beats with noticeable goth and darkwave vibes. Their music also acquires an operatic feel at times between its choral elements and vocalist Nikolai Komyagin's deep and commanding delivery. Band members come from a visual arts background, which is reflected in the visual organization of their live performances and music videos. Perhaps not surprisingly, their work in recent years have also been gravitating towards movie soundtracks and stage music.
