Lucidvox

Lucidvox is an indie rock band based in Moscow whose music combines elements of metal, garage rock, traditional Russian harmonies and melodies, and a touch of psychedelic. They play loads of thundering heavy riffs and piercing guitar lines, and occasionally change time and tempo like a prog band. There is a level of passion and urgency to their playing that suggests a garage rock approach, while their sense of melody and especially vocal layers are guided by Russian folk and choral traditions. They can be aggressively dissonant when they are on fire. Some of their earlier work was stylistically more eclectic in terms of their influences, referencing some krautrock and early post-punk. They are part of the so-called Russian new wave, a generation of bands that have been reinterpreting western rock idioms from their own cultural and musical lens though they often end up making different stylistic choices (also see ГШ, aka Glintshake).
