A Place To Bury Strangers
Outline
A Place to Bury Strangers (often abbreviated as APTPS) is a band that has gone through a number of line up changes over the years, as recently as 2021. The thread that runs through their entire history is that their music is built on the basic post-punk architecture with a prominent bass line that drives a dark and ominous theme working together with a drum pattern at the foreground, a buzzing and swirling electric guitar that provides the mood often in the background, and snarling low register vocals delivering lyrics that are typically not exactly uplifting or joyful. The bass more or less drives their whole music. The band has drifted in and out of shoegaze over the years, with shifting intensity in the guitars and the way their instruments are being mixed.
Skywave, Bambara, The Soft Moon
The band started out as an offshoot of Skywave, a shoegaze band whose sound was in the Jesus and Mary Chain mold.
