Godcaster is a wild, rambunctious band from Philadelphia that creates a hybrid of pop and rock by casting a wide net stylistically and bringing elements of funk, fusion, and prog together. The band is led by guitarist Judson Kolk and bassist Bruce Ebersole, plus a flute and a trombone in the line-up in addition to the standard combo. It is exuberant and smart music that rocks hard, but it can also be challenging in the way it shifts and oscillates between stuttery and dancey. Their songs typically last somewhere between 2 to 3 minutes, though given the often frantic flow and the amount of ideas the band goes through during that time, they often feel at least double that. Theirs is the kind of music that is hard to pull off for a band unless they are really good at what they do and everyone is on the same page at all times ... which they do because they are that good.
