Pypy

PyPy (or ππ) is a project that combines three members of Montreal's Duchess Says, a band that was active in the early '10s, with guitarist Roy Vucino, a veteran of the city's music scene. Together they make music that draws a great deal from contemporary psychedelic rock revved up on a hot punk engine. This was especially true for their first album (Pagan Day, 2014). There was a long pause before their second, Sacred Times (2024), which is where their sound shifted towards a jagged, angular post-punk with an uptempo flow, though without straying from the underlying DIY esthetic that has been a cornerstone of their work from the start.
