Party Dozen

Party Dozen is the saxophone/drums duo Kirsty Tickle and Jonathan Boulet, who create a thick and aggressively loud sound that fluctuates on a scale between industrial type grooves that support a melodic flow and abrasive dissonance bordering on chaos. The result is captivating music that could be both brutal and elegant at the same time. Their pieces are almost always instrumental. Boulet's powerful, and at times, gut-wrenching drums and his sampling lays out a formidable base for Tickle to work off of. She leads on the melodies and riffs on her saxophone as she loops, distorts, screeches, and screams though it. Amid all the noise that the duo creates, they also manage to find their way into sublime passages, jazzy bits, and even brief moments of temporary serenity sprinkled throughout their songs.
