Despite their name. Mandy, Indiana is a Manchester-based band from the UK. They are essentially a techno-industrial band with very strong post-rock, no wave, and noise rock elements. They are a trio consisting of (a) guitarist, producer Scott Fair, whose edgy and hypnotic grooves and distorted and downplayed guitar noise combined with eerie electronic layers and and sound effects are backed by (b) drummer Liam Stewart's primal pounding that underscores the dance beats, while floating above all that is (c) vocalist Valentine Caulfield who speak sings in French with a beautifully soft voice, and which introduces an additional and subtle rhythmic element to their music. They have a way of fitting all thee pieces in perfectly such that all their dark and glum atmospherics and the sense of danger they evoke through their soundscape ultimately feels just right.
